Animal Adoption

PSA Motion Project

Project Goal: For this assignment, the task was to create a PSA for a topic that needs attention. I chose to make one about animal adoption. My goal was to create a piece that had a heartwarming feeling to it. Many animal adoption PSAs are sad and only show dogs without a home. I wanted to convey the joy that adopting an animal can bring not only to the owners but to the animals themselves.

Video Description:
We start by scanning through a park where our attention is drawn to a happy dog. As he sits in this park, he watches happily at everyone walking by him. He begins to get sad that no one is giving him any attention. Days go by, rainy weather, and yet no one has come to help. The dog accepts no one will pay him any attention, but as the dog is resting in the spot he has been for days, a hand reaches out with a welcoming, warm embrace. The dog is happy, we cut to him being adopted by this man, sleeping no longer on the sidewalk but in a warm bed.

Process Behind the Motion

Starting out this PSA, I created a moodboard of images that I used to help create my design style. From there, I created two possible frame-by-frame stories for the PSA.

Design Style: Vector style, staying away from the very sad animal adoption theme many PSAs have.

Tone: Feeling sadness for the dog eventually turns into joy, something adoption a dog can do for you.
